When someone is looking for a strong definition of who they are, it’s often a hard look in the mirror and a dig down underneath the surface to truly find it. But for Canadian country artist Mychela, she found the definition of who she is the moment that she first discovered music!

Surrounded by music from an early age – whether it be the church choir on Sunday’s or spirited family jams in her childhood home – it was the common thread of life for Mychela and the constant fuel for her passion, which would eventually lead to her role as the frontwoman of the band Sweet Tequila.

While fronting the group, Mychela was able to cut her country music teeth, but more importantly, she was able to bring forward the beginnings of who she wanted to be as her own unique artist and songwriter, leading to her eventual exit from group to pursue a solo career.

With country music’s biggest female stars listed as influences - ranging from the classic country icons to the greats that made 90’s country one of the genres most renowned eras - Mychela crafted a sound that had one foot firmly planted on her combined influences, and the other one stamped down on a line that defined her own signature flair which she first showed off on her 2020 single “I’m Not Gonna Stop.”

A built for honky-tonk style wrapped a tempo driven, two-steppin’ rhythm around her ultra-clean vocal that popped from your speakers wearing a knowing smile as she delivered an autobiographical lyric that saw her unapologetically taking a step out of her previous comfort zone and into her next chapter with a carefree attitude and a take what comes as it may mentality, encouraging through her own story to keep pushing for goals until, “everybody knows my name!”

Never one to ever slow down, Mychela is constantly performing, writing, and recording new music while continually challenging herself to elevate her signature feels to new heights as is evident with her latest single, “Who Let The Girls Out.”

The rousing, rollicking female anthem invites girls from anywhere – city or country – to come along for a girl’s nights out on town as Mychela playfully flirts her way through the lyrics that take the listener straight into the honky-tonk with them where they get a little wild, have a little fun, and let the guys buy them drinks all night long; a perfect addition to your own “girl’s night out” playlist.

“Who Let The Girls Out” is only the first tease of things still to come from Mychela, though.

With co-writes lined up and many already underway, she continues defining herself and her unique sound, focusing on all her strongest attributes and craftily bringing them to the forefront as she refreshingly gives the listener modern twists on a decisively throwback vibe.

A new project is currently in the works, and although no official release date is announced yet, it is promised to be an entire definition of who Mychela is from its first note to its last!

Mychela has shared stage with acts including Julian Austin, Road Hammers, Lonestar, Washboard Union, Prairie States, Aaron Lines, Harlequin, Nazareth, Aaron Pritchett, and the late Shane Yellowbird. Most recently, opening for Gord Bamford and The Reklaws.

She has been recognized by The Josie Awards in 2021 with nominations in two categories, Modern Country Female Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year for “I’m Not Gonna Stop,” and has been nominated in 2022 for the Ken Flaherty Music Buffy Award; the renowned award given out for excellence in the arts. Mychela is also a 3X nominee for the Country Music Alberta awards for female vocalist and fans choice.

With these honors listed on her resume, combining with her passion to create refreshingly honest songs that act as a brilliant showcase toward who Mychela is, it’s easy to see that she’s an artist who is only just getting started as her efforts continuously captivate the country music lover at each new turn!
